An exceptional array of speakers who participated in the Hispanic Summit conducted in March 2005, in Orlando-FL, discussed topics ranging from Philanthropy and Civic Participation, Media, Economic Opportunities Between Puerto Rico and Central Florida, Free Trade Agreements and the Business Community’s Commitment to Diversity and Entrepreneurship.

During the 2005 Hispanic Summit, three pieces of Original Research Studies were presented to our community: The Economic Impact of Hispanics in Central Florida; Puerto Ricans in Orlando and Central Florida and the Regional Leadership Survey, a multi-county analysis highlighting the different voter attitudes and trends in the region, provided valuable information to our government, business and civic leaders to make plans for the future and promote cooperation, coordination and collaboration in the region.

Presented below are the documents containing the research performed by:

  1. Hank Fishkind, Ph.D., President, Fishkind & Associates, Inc. on the Regional Economic Impact of the growing Hispanic Market.
  2. Jorge Duany, Ph.D., Chair, Department of Sociology and Anthropology, University of Puerto Rico and Felix V. Matos Rodriguez, Ph.D., Director, Centro de Estudios Puertorriqueños (Center for Puerto Rican Studies). Their presentation is entitled “Puerto Ricans in Orlando and Central Florida” and is original, never-done-before research, presented for the first time at the Hispanic Summit.

  3. David Hill, Hill Research Consultants and John Sowinski, Principal, Consensus Communications, unveiled the Regional Leadership Survey, a multi-county analysis highlighting different voter attitudes and trends in Brevard, Lake, Orange, Osceola, Polk, Seminole and Volusia Counties.

The Hispanic Summit is a long term community initiative that will continue to explore opportunities for strengthening our communities in Central Florida. A total of Fifty One Community Partners helped to plan, guide and direct the Hispanic Summit. They believe that our future is one of great promise and prosperity. By working together, we are able to achieve a higher level of success of this initiative.
